Everything can be improved, even democracy...

...and even democracy in the United States; perhaps particularly in the United States.

It seems increasingly commonplace that because it is difficult to amend a constitution, then we can not make any improvements. In reality, the most improvement is made by small incremental steps to improve the system. With enough steps, the long journey to amend a constitution becomes so much easier. Not to make small steps is not to embark on the journey at all.
The same applies to other serious matters. Whether holistically or incrementally, it is possible to improve complex things like; the biosphere, the climate, the environment, and the general condition of society. From the personal level, locally, or at any scale imaginable.

Let's start with the biosphere. The measurements of progress are simpler than you might image; the physical amount of non-biological waste or pollution within it.

How? Start small and build. Small steps such as:
  1. Picking up three pieces of plastic every time you go to a beach.
  2. Plant a few trees every month, say a dozen.
  3. Grow some of you own food, even if it is in a indoor pot plant.
  4. Thinking of your own good deed. Something that rewards you, and by impact, everybody else in some way.
It all counts.
